Brad Binder to head up fourth row at Jerez
The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 riders experienced a difficult day of qualifying on Saturday at the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit. Brad Binder and Jorge Martin were required to participate in Q1 as a result of not finishing in the Top 14 in the combined classification of the Free Practices. The South African was able to make the cut for Q2 and will take off from tenth tomorrow, whilst the Spaniard would miss out with an eighth-place finish in Q1 and will start from the eighth row.
In FP3, the Red Bull KTM Ajo duo had to adapt to much milder temperatures compared to Friday. Brad Binder topped the timesheet for much of the session and on his 14th lap of 19, he clocked a 1:41.871 that eventually left him in 15th, missing the access to Q2 by less than 1 tenth.
Brad Binder set the third best time of Q1, followed up by setting his fastest lap of the weekend -1.41.528- for tenth on the grid.
The 23-lap Red Bull Grand Prix of Spain gets underway at 12:20pm local time for the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 riders.

“We’ve had a lot of issues all weekend. Yesterday we thought that today we would be able to find solutions, but in the end it didn’t work out like that. Nevertheless, in the afternoon we were able to go a little faster and our pace is quite good. I feel like something small is in our way and when we know what it is, we are sure to improve. I hope that we can take the step forward that we need in the warmup. Tomorrow I will give 100%, and I am very keen to fight for a good result.”
