Brad follows up P9 in Austrian Sprint Race with P6 in the #AustrianGP

After taking a solid P9 in Saturday’s Sprint Race in Austria at the Red Bull Ring, Brad Binder followed it up with a strong performance on Sunday in the main race, seeing him cross the line in 6th from 11th on the grid.

Brad scorched to the top six after five laps. The South African then found 5th at mid-race distance and engaged in more battling Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. He persisted with his pace, the only rider with the soft front tire choice and grabbed 6th for his efforts.

“I felt pretty good and the beginning of the race was quite OK. I lost a few positions at the end of the first lap when I was popped up onto the curb but I managed to get a few back and the bike was working really good. I felt great but with about eight laps gone I started to spin a lot and it got worse. It was a bit of a surprise but for tomorrow we know what we need to do and to calm things down a bit to make the distance.”

“Overall, I’d say a successful weekend here in Red Bull Ring and I’m happy to have got my best finish of the year. I would have liked to have been a bit further up the grid but I did my best. Happy with the pace we were able to put together and happy with the work by the team. Well done to them, and also to Pedro on his first victory; I’m sure it’s the first of many.”
